The US-based firm Waymo has announced that its autonomous taxis will be available for hire on London's streets starting next year.

The UK capital will become the pioneering European city to introduce an self-driving taxi service, similar to those currently familiar in multiple US cities and several American urban centers using Waymo's innovative systems.

Waymo announced that its vehicles are now traveling to London and will commence navigating on the capital's roads in the coming weeks with safety drivers supervising the vehicles.
Waymo – originally established as a derivative from Google's self-driving car initiative and part of the Alphabet family – indicated it would scale up services and collaborate with the government transport body and the city's mobility organization to secure the necessary permissions to deliver completely driverless trips by 2026.
