The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Is Here, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.

The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Beloved Titles

Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, for instance the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will confront a new threat in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Worth mentioning, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-inspired imagery; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases officially announced for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
