Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's first trophy after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour victory, took control to push for a final set.

Moutet defended four early-game break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a shot at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
